Rev. Brian Petersen

Priest-in-Charge

Rev. Brian serves as the lead pastor for St. Brigid’s. He grew up here in North County (Poway, to be exact), is a veteran of the US Marine Corps, and is a graduate of Azusa Pacific University, Golden Gate Baptist Seminary, and Church Divinity School of the Pacific. He and Kelly have helped to start churches for homeless youth in Portland, Oregon and New York City, and he is passionate about building inclusive and justice-focused communities. Brian has played guitar in many punk and indie bands over the years, and is an avid skateboarder, surfer, and hiker with a particular love for Southern California native plants and ecosystems. He loves Oceanside because we have all the best surf breaks, skate spots, and taco shops in SD County!

Joey aszterbaum

Music Minister

Joey and his wife Keisha live in Oceanside and love taking visitors downtown for coffee and a walk on the pier. Joey has been a professional musician and a social studies teacher, is the author of a novella, and is especially interested in movies, music, and sloths. He's passionate about social and economic justice, theology, and helping build communities of care. 

Kelly petersen

Minister of Formation & Digital Evangelism

Kelly is a minister of formation and digital evangelism, dedicated to fostering spiritual growth and community connection through both in-person and online spaces. With a passion for holistic health, she empowers others on their journey of faith and self-discovery through mind, body, and spirit alignment. 

Kelly is a Holistic Health Practitioner specializing in massage therapy, yoga, and nutrition. She is also a passionate writer and artist who enjoys creating meaningful crafts and spending time with her loved ones.
